Introduction to Dermal Fillers
The signs of aging can detract from your natural beauty, leaving you feeling much older and less appealing than you deserve. Dermal fillers are hyaluronic gel-like substances that are injected beneath the skin. This cosmetic treatment is performed to temporarily improve lines and creases and provide volume on the face. Many dermal filler products are available today. However, our providers at Lux Skin Lasers ONLY use hyaluronic acid-based fillers, which have the highest safety profile. Our providers’ favorite filler brand is the most popular in the world- the Juvederm family of fillers, which includes Voluma. Other popular products used to provide volume the face and very popular for patients experiencing the “Ozempic face” or significant volume loss to the face due to weight loss, bio-stimulators such as Sculptra and Radiesse are used to provide a long-term foundation and fine tuned with HA based like Juvederm, Restylane or Versa dermal fillers. What Are Dermal Fillers?
Dermal fillers are hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers that can plump up areas with age-related volume loss. These include sunken cheekbones or under-eye bags. These volumizing formulas can restore symmetry and enhance facial features by filling fine lines and creases. This includes lip injections for lip augmentation. Hyaluronic Acid is a naturally occurring molecule found in the skin. HA retains water, keeping the skin hydrated, plump, and youthful-looking. When formulated as a filler, HA acts as a volumizing substance mimicking the naturally occurring collagen in our bodies. These cosmetic injections are especially good at filling in wrinkles in the lower portion of the face. Popular treatment areas include fine lines around the nose and mouth.
At our clinic, we offer Juvederm, Restylane and bio-stimulators such as Sculptra and Radiesse to help with volume loss and improve skin quality. Both Restylane and Juvéderm are soft tissue fillers composed of Hyaluronic Acid.
Dermal Fillers We Offer:
JUVÉDERM
With age, our faces lose firmness and tone. Facial fillers such as Juvéderm can be used to reverse this effect. Juvéderm is the most popular filler in the United States due to its lasting effect (approx. 9-12 months).1 Juvéderm comes in various types. The most popular being Ultra, Ultra Plus, and Voluma.
Restylane
Restylane is a soft tissue filler formulated with hyaluronic acid. Its source is non-animal-based, which eliminates the need for pre-treatment testing. An advantageous aspect of this product is its resemblance to the hyaluronic acid produced in the body, creating a high level of safety and efficacy.
Radiesse
Radiesse is a next-generation dermal filler that can do more than just volume and erase wrinkle; it can very effectively sculpt features. Unlike traditional hyaluronic acid fillers, Radiesse is made with calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres, providing immediate volume while stimulating collagen production for long-lasting, natural improvements. This dual-action formula makes it particularly effective for treating deep wrinkles, defining the jawline, restoring lost volume in the hands, and lifting areas that need structural support. As the gel carrier is absorbed over time, the CaHA microspheres continue working and encourage your skin to rebuild its own collagen for results that can last over a year or more. In short, Radiesse offers a non-surgical way to achieve lasting rejuvenation.
Sculptra
Sculptra is a collagen-stimulating injectable treatment that restores lost volume, smooths wrinkles and improves facial contours with long-lasting results. Unlike traditional fillers, which provide instant volume, Sculptra works gradually by boosting your body’s natural collagen production, leading to improved results over time. Its key ingredient, poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), is biocompatible and biodegradable, ensuring safe and effective enhancements. PLLA is particularly effective for deep facial hollows, sunken cheeks, and softening smile lines.

What’s the First Step?
If you want lip fillers in Philadelphia, your first step is to schedule a consultation with one of our expert providers at Lux Skin Lasers. During your appointment, your provider will ask you about your medical history, aesthetic needs, goals, and expectations. Finally, they will examine your lips and outline the lip filler procedure with its associated risks and benefits.
Once you both agree to proceed with a lip filler procedure, your doctor will design your treatment plan. You can then choose to get the injection right after your consultation or schedule it later at a more convenient time.
What to Expect on the Day of Dermal Fillers Treatment
On the day of your treatment of dermal fillers in Philadelphia, your provider and the staff at Lux Skin Lasers will receive you and welcome you to the facility, get you settled in a treatment room, and review your treatment plan to make sure you have no outlying concerns.
A topical anesthetic will be applied to numb the treatment area and reduce the risk of potential discomfort. Once the numbness settles in, your provider will place a series of tiny injections of your chosen dermal filler into the skin at the target areas. During and after the injections, your provider might gently massage the treated areas to distribute the dermal filler uniformly.
The process should take twenty to thirty minutes without any recovery downtime, and results will show immediately.
Dermal Fillers Recovery
Patients have reported minor swelling, bruising, redness, and discomfort in the injection sites, but these usually resolve within a day or two.
Patients are advised to avoid strenuous exercise and exposure to sunlight for a week.

How Much Do Dermal Fillers Cost in Philadelphia, PA?
When dealing with dermal fillers, our doctors all follow Dr. Lee’s philosophy that “less is always more”. Small amount of product placed in the right areas can enhance your facial anatomy- this is our goal. Our doctors are known for their advanced injection technique using the micro-cannula. We use a combination of hyaluronic acid-based fillers like Juvederm, Voluma, Restylane and bio-stimulators such as Sculptra and Radiesse, to improve the overall proportion and volume to your face. Patients experiencing the “Ozempic face” or significant volume loss to the face due to weight loss, bio-stimulators are used to provide a long-term foundation and fine tuned with HA based like Juvederm, Restylane or Versa dermal fillers.

Dermal Fillers FAQ’S
Are Dermal Fillers Painful?
Dermal fillers are injected after using a topical numbing cream, so the treatment should be pain-free. Some fillers also include anesthetics. Patients might feel slightly tender, but post-treatment, they expect a resolution within a day or two.
How Many Appointments Will I Need?
Most patients will need a single appointment for their dermal filler. Since this treatment is not permanent, patients are recommended to schedule maintenance appointments every six months.
How Long Until I See the Results?
Most patients should be able to notice a difference immediately after their treatment. Full results will show in a few weeks after the swelling resolves and the fillers have settled into their equilibrium position.
Can I Combine Dermal Fillers With Other Procedures?
Yes, you can! Patients who have received dermal fillers in Philadelphia have considered combining them with other facial rejuvenation treatments such as BOTOX. Patients are recommended to share their combined procedure goals with their provider at the initial consultation so that they can be considered and included during the treatment planning process.
What Are the Risks Associated With Dermal Fillers?
Dermal fillers are low-risk treatments. However, there are still risks associated with them. Some of them are listed below:
- Acne-like skin eruptions
- Asymmetry
- Bleeding from the injection site
- Bruising
- Damage to the skin that results in a wound and possible scarring
- Infection at the injection site
- Lumps
- The palpability of the filler under the surface of the skin
- Skin necrosis (ulceration or loss of skin from disruption of blood flow)
- Skin rash with itching
- Skin redness
- Swelling
Under- or over-correction of wrinkles
In extremely rare cases, the filler can be accidentally injected into your blood vessels rather than just under your skin, blocking blood flow and producing varying results. If you experience any long-lasting or unexpected reactions, please contact us at Lux Skin Lasers right away.
